Bar Marina: A Land-Side Guide for Visiting Boaters and Crews

Most of the arrival guides in this cluster are written for people showing up on a ferry, a train, or a bus. This one's for a smaller but no less real group: sailors, motorboat owners, and yacht crews who arrive in Bar under their own power.

About the marina

Marina Bar sits right in the center of Bar town, next to the town beach, which is a genuinely convenient location compared to marinas that are tucked away from the action. It's one of the larger marinas on the Montenegrin coast, with several hundred berths accommodating a wide range of vessel sizes. Being right in town means you're within walking distance of restaurants, shops, banks, and the general life of Bar, rather than needing transport just to get a meal after a long passage.

For berth availability, current rates, and technical details like draft and mooring specifics, that's best confirmed directly with the marina itself rather than relying on general guides like this one, since those details shift.

What's within walking distance

Because the marina is so central, a lot of what a visiting crew needs is close by on foot: provisioning, pharmacies, cafes, and the old town area. If your crew has a few hours or a full day before heading back out to sea, Bar itself has enough to fill the time, from Stari Bar's old town ruins to a stroll along the promenade.

When you need to go further

Walking covers the town center, but if your crew wants to head further out, to the airport, to another coastal town, or inland to somewhere like Cetinje or Ostrog, that's where a taxi makes more sense than trying to walk or rely on infrequent buses. We can pick up directly from the marina area, since it falls inside our standard Opština Bar pickup zone, and take you anywhere from there, including well outside the municipality.

For local trips, our standard city tariff applies: 1.00 EUR boarding plus a 2.00 EUR minimum fare, roughly 1.45 EUR per kilometer beyond that. Longer trips further afield run on a separate, higher intercity tariff, covered in our day trips guide.

Crew changeovers and provisioning runs

If you're managing a crew changeover, picking up or dropping off arriving or departing crew at the airport, the train station, or the bus station is a common enough need, and it's exactly the kind of point-to-point run a taxi handles better than trying to coordinate shared transport. Booking through the Greencar.me Taxi app lets you arrange this in advance rather than scrambling on the day.

If you're arriving on a passenger ferry instead

Marina Bar is a separate facility from the commercial port that the Bari ferry uses. If you came in on the passenger ferry rather than your own boat, you want From Bar Ferry Port to Your Hotel: A Taxi Guide instead, or the fuller picture in Arriving by Ferry from Bari, Italy.

Beyond the marina

For the wider picture of how boaters, ferry passengers, train travelers, and cruise visitors all arrive in the same town by different routes, see our pillar guide to arriving in Bar. And when you're ready to move on from the dock, you can book through the Greencar.me Taxi app on Google Play or the App Store.
