Dobra Voda: A Quieter Beach Guide, and How to Get There by Taxi

Dobra Voda doesn't have a dramatic rock formation or a long promenade to build a reputation around. What it has is a quieter version of the same coastline, and for a certain kind of traveler, that's exactly the point.

What to expect

Dobra Voda spreads out along the coast between Čanj and Sutomore rather than centering on one obvious town square, more a string of settlements and small beaches than a single destination. The water is clear, the pace is slower, and you won't find the same density of restaurants and hotels that Sutomore or Bar have built up. If you've already spent a day or two on the busier beaches and want something calmer, this is where you head.

The name translates roughly to "good water," and locals have long associated the area with natural spring water sources, which is part of why smaller settlements grew up along this stretch in the first place.

Getting there by taxi

Dobra Voda sits in the suburban fare tier from Bar, similar to Sutomore and Čanj, a boarding charge plus the out-of-town minimum and per-kilometer rate. It pairs naturally with a visit to Čanj just to the south, close enough that many visitors treat the two as a single loop, quieter beach in the morning, the rock pools and a bit more activity in the afternoon, or the reverse.

Because Dobra Voda is more spread out than the other beach towns, it's worth having a specific spot in mind, or letting your driver know roughly where along the stretch you're headed, rather than just saying "Dobra Voda" and hoping for the best.

What a day here actually looks like

Rather than one continuous beach, expect a series of smaller coves and pebble stretches tucked along the shoreline, separated by short walks or low headlands. Some are easier to reach than others, and a few require a short scramble down from the road. It rewards a bit of exploring on foot once you're dropped off, rather than settling on the very first patch of sand you see. Facilities are minimal, a handful of small seasonal cafés at most, so this works best as a bring-your-own-supplies kind of stop, similar in spirit to Utjeha further south, just closer to Bar.
