Utjeha: Bar Municipality's Quietest Beach, by Taxi

If Šušanj is the beach for people who don't want to leave Bar and Sutomore is the beach for people who want a bit of resort energy, Utjeha is the beach for people who want to disappear for an afternoon. It's the smallest and quietest of the municipality's coastal settlements, tucked south of Bar past Šušanj, and it rarely gets mentioned in the same breath as the bigger names on this coast.

What to expect

Utjeha's beach is modest in size, a pebble cove backed by green hillside rather than a long promenade or a strip of hotels. There isn't much infrastructure here, which is exactly the appeal for anyone who's already done the busier beaches and wants somewhere calmer. Don't expect a wide choice of restaurants or facilities, this is a bring-your-own-towel-and-a-book kind of stop.

Getting there by taxi

Utjeha sits at the southern edge of the municipality, further from Bar than Šušanj, which puts the trip into the suburban fare tier, a boarding charge plus the out-of-town minimum and per-kilometer rate. It's a straightforward, well-known route for our drivers even though it's one of the quieter destinations we cover, since it still sits comfortably inside Opština Bar.

Because there's limited infrastructure once you're there, it's worth agreeing on a rough pickup time for your return trip before your driver leaves, rather than assuming you'll have reliable signal or an easy way to flag someone down later.

Practical notes

Bring what you need with you, water, sun protection, snacks, since there's little to buy on site beyond maybe a single small seasonal stand, and that's not guaranteed. Shade is limited too, mostly what the surrounding hillside naturally offers rather than umbrellas or a beach bar setup, so plan your hours accordingly if you're sensitive to midday sun. The upside of all that inconvenience is space, even in August this stretch rarely feels crowded the way the more developed beaches can.

If you're coming specifically to get away from other people for a few hours, this is genuinely one of the better options in the municipality for that. If you'd rather have a restaurant within easy reach for lunch, Sutomore or Bar itself will serve you better.
