Taxi from Čanj to Tivat Airport
Čanj is a small, quiet beach town just south of Sutomore, known for its long pebble beach and a much slower pace than the busier resorts further up the coast. If you're staying here and flying out of Tivat Airport (TIV), the route is close to identical to the Bar-Tivat run, just with a starting point slightly further south.
Distance and time
From Čanj, expect roughly 60 to 65 kilometers to Tivat Airport and a drive of around an hour to an hour and a half, following the coastal road north through Bar, Sutomore, and Budva before rounding the Bay of Kotor via the Vrmac Tunnel. Traffic through Budva in peak summer is the main variable that can stretch the trip out.
Since this route largely mirrors the Bar-Tivat drive, our Bar to Tivat Airport guide covers the scenery and road details in more depth, most of which applies here too.
Čanj itself is one of the quieter towns in the municipality, a long stretch of pebble beach backed by pine trees rather than the busier promenade you'll find in Bar or Sutomore, and it tends to draw travelers who'd rather stay somewhere low-key while still being close enough to everything else on the coast.
What it costs
Standard out-of-town pricing applies: a 1 euro boarding charge, a 5 euro minimum, and 1.10 euros per kilometer by day. Given Čanj sits a little further from Tivat than either Sutomore or Bar, the total fare will run a touch higher than those routes, roughly in line with the extra distance. For a late-night or early-morning flight, the night tariff kicks in for the in-city stretches of the drive, covered in our night and holiday transfers guide.
Roughly what to budget. For a trip of around 62 kilometers, the distance charge works out to roughly 68 euros, plus the 1 euro boarding fee, so a reasonable planning figure lands somewhere around €67 to €73. As with any of the Tivat routes, this is a ballpark based on the standard formula, actual fares depend on the exact distance and any waiting time.
Booking and timing
Given the length of this trip and the Budva bottleneck in the middle of it, treat this the same way you would the Bar-Tivat run: book with a reasonable buffer, especially in July and August, and more so if you're catching an international flight you genuinely can't miss. Our guide on how far in advance to book has seasonal specifics.
Pickup zone reminder
Čanj is within Opština Bar, so pickup here works exactly like pickup from Bar, Sutomore, Dobra Voda, Šušanj, Stari Bar, Virpazar, or Utjeha. From a valid pickup point here, we can take you the full distance to Tivat Airport, or anywhere else, including across an international border if that's where your flight departs from.
For nearby comparison, see our guides on Bar to Tivat Airport and Sutomore to Tivat Airport.
Keep in mind the same rule works in reverse: Tivat Airport sits outside Opština Bar, so we can't pick up a return fare there. If you're flying into Tivat and heading back to Čanj, you'd need a Tivat-based taxi for that direction.
