Taxi from Sutomore to Podgorica Airport
Sutomore, the beach town just north of Bar, is actually in a slightly better spot than Bar itself for this particular trip. The Sozina Tunnel, the road link that makes the Podgorica run so quick in the first place, has its coastal entrance right near Sutomore, so if you're staying here, you're already a few minutes ahead.
Distance and time
From Sutomore, the drive to Podgorica Airport (TGD), near Golubovci, is roughly 30 kilometers, and it typically takes somewhere around 30 to 40 minutes. You'll go straight into the Sozina Tunnel without needing to first backtrack through Bar, which shaves a little time compared to a pickup further south.
Once you're through the tunnel, the road opens onto the Zeta plain, with Lake Skadar visible in the distance on a clear day, before running on into Golubovci and the airport.
Sutomore itself is worth a mention beyond just its role as a launch point for this trip. It's a genuinely popular family beach town, with a long sandy beach that's a bit softer underfoot than the pebble coves further along the coast, and a small working harbor that gives it a different feel from the more built-up resorts nearby.
What it costs
This trip falls under the out-of-town fare tier: a 1 euro boarding charge, a 5 euro minimum, and 1.10 euros per kilometer for a standard daytime ride. Given the shorter distance from Sutomore compared to Bar, the total fare will generally come in a little lower than the equivalent trip from Bar itself, though the 5 euro minimum still applies as a floor regardless of exact distance.
Roughly what to budget. For a trip of around 30 kilometers, the distance charge works out to roughly 33 euros, plus the 1 euro boarding fee, putting a reasonable planning figure somewhere around €33 to €37. As always, this is a ballpark based on the standard rate and distance, not a fixed quote, the app will give you a specific estimate at the time you book.
If you're comparing this to a pickup from Bar directly, see our Bar to Podgorica Airport guide for the full breakdown, including how the tunnel toll and both night and daytime rates work.
Booking and timing
This is a short, well-known route, so you generally don't need a lot of lead time outside peak summer weekends, when traffic through the tunnel approach can pick up. For an early morning flight, though, it's still worth booking the evening before through the Greencar.me Taxi app, available on Android and the App Store for iPhone, so a car is confirmed rather than something you're sorting out at 4 a.m.
Pickup zone reminder
Sutomore is fully inside Opština Bar, so we can pick you up here without any restriction, same as Bar, Čanj, Dobra Voda, Šušanj, Stari Bar, Virpazar, and Utjeha. From a valid pickup here, we can take you anywhere, including across the border into Croatia or Albania, not just to Podgorica Airport.
If you're weighing this route against a pickup further inland, worth a look is our Virpazar to Podgorica Airport guide, since Virpazar sits on the far side of the tunnel and ends up being an even shorter run. And if you're closer to Bar's southern edge, see our Dobra Voda to Podgorica Airport guide.
Worth noting too: since Podgorica Airport itself sits outside Opština Bar, we're not able to pick up a return fare there back to Sutomore. That direction would need a Podgorica-licensed taxi.
